Incinerator - Prison Break

Image
With smoke billowing behind them, Carov and his team limp through the doorway, slamming it behind them, against the heat and smoke of the lava. Looking into the room, they see a table in the middle, with gnolls feasting on haunches of meat, and a cook fire in one corner with two additional gnolls turning a spit containing what appears to be a dog carcass. “Skitter?” Victor shouts…. Carov, followed closely by the conjurer Yvanne advance into the room, while Revna the archer moves to a flanking position.  Carov sends out a pair of magical bolts at the gnolls at the table, wounding two.  Yvanne casts a fireball at the distant gnoll archers, wounding one. (and here is where my lack of sleep last night got me - I had the baddies act on Turn 1) Guardian Gnoll charged Carov, his great sword swinging high; Carov ducked under the blow, his riposte injuring the gnoll.  The remaining gnoll also attacked Carov, snarling terribly.  Carov spun to face the gnoll, his sword finding i

Incinerator!

Incinerator - Fire Drop After the complete failure of Perilous Dark scenario 2 - Isher’s Weapon Shop, I wanted a story-based way to escape our fate.  The obvious choice became clear.  Incinerator!  Except, as this was not the Shadow Deep, I am using gnolls instead of Temple Guardians, and Borock instead of the Warden.  Let’s see how it goes, shall we? Carov woke up with a start.  The last thing he remembered was being swarmed by gnolls in the ruins of Isher’s Weapon Shop.  Then, darkness. Looking around, Carov only saw the flicker of two braziers in the distance, and high off the ground.  Risking a minor cantrip, he conjured a dim light, only enough to illuminate the area within arms’ reach, and looked around. Laying on the ground next to him were Victor and Martin, as well as two young women - one laying on a bow, and the other apparently unarmed. Carov was about to shake Victor awake, when the braziers burst into brilliance, and a door on a ledge high off the ground creaked op

Rangers of Frostgrave - Isher's Weapon Shop

Escaping from the entrance to the weapon shop, Carov and Victor sat down, exhausted from their run through the door.  As they bound their wounds, the door burst open, and Martin, bloody from his injuries, dashed through carrying Skitter.  Victor slammed the door behind them, the thwack of a bolt echoing in the room. Carov cast his healing spell and bound their wounds, bringing Martin and Skitter back from the brink. Suddenly, braziers burst into flames, and from the corners of the room, the snarling barks of Gnolls echoed through the weapon shop. At the far end of the chamber, a locked cabinet, heavily guarded.  What fantastic treasures could be within? Seeing gnolls to both their left and right, Carov pointed to the left, and Victor, Carov and Martin moved up.  Carov cast a quick Armour spell on himself - with two of their party dead, he will have to get into the fight if they were to have any chance. The gnolls moved up to engage, one taking a hit as it charged Vic

Rangers of Frostgrave - The Writhing Fumes

Image
The Writhing Fumes Passing through the ruined gateway, Carov, Victor and their team gazed into the darkness.  Wisps of vapor crawled around the walls, and over the rubble scattered across the chamber. As they enter, their path lit by a flame conjured by Carov, the wisps of vapor from a nearby vent coalesced into a nearly solid form.  "Martin!  Iliana - take care of it", Carov ordered, as he cast a spell to improve Martin's armour.  Martin and Iliana moved up, the Vapor Snake sliding up Iliana's sword as she swung, striking at her and drawing blood.  Martin's sword passed harmlessly past the snake. From the far corner, another vapor snake rounded the bend, its slight fluorescense the only hint of its presence. Alvi charges the snake, and with some assistance from Martin and Iliana, killed it -if such a manner of elemental being could truly be killed. Victor and Skitter move up, with the loyal hound taking point. As Carov, Alvi and Martin advance, the

Rangers of Frostgrave - Tavern Tales

Tavern Tales After returning to Felstad, Carov, along with the young barbarian Alvi and the swordswoman Cecca went their separate ways.  Before they separated, Carov sold the heavy armor and the book of lore to a wizard looking to equip his team, and split the money evenly.  Alvi, never having been treated as an equal before, said “If you go back into the city, look me up.  If I’m not dead, I’m in!”  Cecca, however, just took her share and left with a nod. The next ship to Alladore would not be in for a month.  Carov had some money - probably enough to last, but a thought kept forming in his mind. Is the Enemy here?  There are plenty of evil forces at large in this accursed city, and as long as they stay in the city, Carov didn’t care.  But, could the Enemy be here, gathering forces?  After all, the poison that killed the old king was unknown in Alladore, but they found the antidote here. He had a month.  He would keep his eyes and ears open.  But first, he needed time

Cast: Etienne - Sigilist from Tollonia Manoog - Dwarf Sigilist Apprentice Roan Whiteriver, Ranger formerly of Lorenthia Hammet of Alladore, Templar Cooper of Alladore, Knight Men-At-Arms of Feldstad Arne Torsten Thugs of Feldstad Sten Oraf “So, what do we do now, Roan?” Hammet said, while dining on thin soup and stale bread, “We are out of money. You said you had a plan.” “You would prefer dying fighting the Shadow Deep?” Roan responded. “And I have more than a plan. We have a job. Mercenary work.”  “Mercenary work?”  “Some wizard from Tollonia is here - he paid us 300 gold crowns to lead some rabble searching for a famed weapon shop.”  “Weapon shop?” Cooper responded, looking up from his beer, “Not the cursed one that I heard about?”  “It’s not cursed, fool - just guarded - couple of constructs and some magic snakey things. But we have to move fast. I saw a familiar face in the streets. He didn’t see me, but I think we’re not the only ones from Allad
