The Lands of Basale Cerr

Image
Local Area Map All the Lands Kalicz The Northern Realm. The Secaran people were driven from their ancient lands of the north and settled on Secara.  However, after the Sun was Stolen and then returned to the sky, Dragons came to roost on Secara.  The people therefore migrated once again, back to their ancestral lands. The primary religion of the people of Kalicz is that of the Seven and Thirteen - a religion of Elven origin, following the works of the twenty original leaders of the Elven race. Alagner Led by the Church of Tarim the Omnipotent, Alagner seeks to spread its faith throughout the lands.  The Church has achieved prominence in Tarras, Derva, and Quarsh; however, Kalicz has resisted the faith.  Emissaries are present nearly everywhere, attempting to spread the words of Tarim. Calmindon To the King of Alagner's shame, the Archmage - the most powerful wizard to dwell within Basale Cerr refused to kneel to Alagner and adopt the worship of Tarim. The King of Alagner had no cho

House Rule - Leveling up

In order to make the game a bit more fun and easy, I'm going to make an alteration in the training rules for going up levels. The training time will be a flat week - I forgot if I was having you spend two before, but in the future, it will be 1.  If I was already having you spend 1 week, you will still be spending 1 week :) The cost will be 500gp/level, so to get to 5th level, the training cost will be 2500gp.  And don't forget that Toko and Johnny Longbow will need 1000gp each to get to 2nd level, once they get enough XP.  This is down from 1500gp per level per week. Non-humans have level limits per the "rules as written".  As I've mentioned before, I'm removing that for single-classed characters.  However, there will be a penalty.  Once you exceed the by-the-book limit (i.e. a half-elf fighter's max level is 8th by the book, so for Dylan to get above 8th level), the time to train doubles to 2 weeks - so it's basically 1000gp/level after that. It is s

Rangers of Frostgrave - Perilous Dark - Dog Days Part 2

Carov rallied his team once again, and recruited a new Man-At-Arms, Kolli, an archer, Orsino, and, since Sutton had recovered from his previous injuries, brought him back. They once again headed for the Reaver's treasure, with a better plan to delay the Chronohounds. At first, things went well.  Kolli and Sutton brought down three hounds right away, and  Victor and Gorbin destroyed two of the Time Crystals. But then, things started to go wrong.  Sutton and Kolli went down, and Yvanne's fireball failed to injure any hounds. Victor and Gorbin went down trying to destroy the third crystal, with Orsino and Revna also going down.  Carov, supported by Yvanne, destroyed the fourth crystal, but as they went to destroy the third, Yvanne fell, and Carov was overwhelmed. Sadly, Carov did not survive his injures.  He and Orsino join the Hall of Memories. Victor, Yvanne, Revna, Kolli and Sutton survive without any ill effects.  Gorbin, however, received a permanent injury to his l

When Carov and his team arrived back at their base, Revna held out a peculiar blade she scooped up.  It was covered in strange runes no one recognized, and Carov could detect a slight enchantment.  After several days of research, and calling in a few favors, the runes were translated, and Carov found that the blade was once carried by a member of an elite mercenary group called the Reavers.  The Reaver’s captain was said to carry a sword of great power, and had equipped his Reavers with similar, but lesser weapons. These weapons could be used to point the way to the Reaver captain’s location.  Joined by two elves, Daryain the Swordsman and Eloborn the Archer, Carov and his merry band of miscreants journeyed out to find the Reaver’s treasure. Missing Pictures

Well, something happened, and many of my pictures are missing.  Looking into it; I may have to rebuild my pages.  <sigh> I may have it fixed; I will keep an eye on it.

Rangers of Shadow Deep - Isher's Weapon Shop Try 2

Back at the inn, Carov, Victor, Cooper, Gorbin, Revna and Yvanne sat in the common room, the warmth and smell of humanity surrounding them.  Listening to Gorbin devour another plate of sausages, Victor spoke up “Well, we got out of that prison; got some nice weapons, but no cash.  With how much we’re spending on food now, we need to find work, together or separately.” “I’m going where Yvanne goes for a while”, Revna said, “I still need her healing.” “I got nothing, and nowhere to go.” Cooper said.  “You could return to Alladore”, Carov replied.  Cooper stared at him, fear in his eyes, “I thought I recognized you - you were here with that Ranger Serrol, right?  We had to hide in our cabin on the boat over - Roan said you’d have us thrown overboard as deserters.” “We might have, then”, Carov said, “Today is a different day.  And truth be told, I wouldn’t have recognized you.  You should have painted over your shield - the Silver Star isn’t common in these parts.  The ship back to Alla

With smoke billowing behind them, Carov and his team limp through the doorway, slamming it behind them, against the heat and smoke of the lava. Looking into the room, they see a table in the middle, with gnolls feasting on haunches of meat, and a cook fire in one corner with two additional gnolls turning a spit containing what appears to be a dog carcass. “Skitter?” Victor shouts…. Carov, followed closely by the conjurer Yvanne advance into the room, while Revna the archer moves to a flanking position.  Carov sends out a pair of magical bolts at the gnolls at the table, wounding two.  Yvanne casts a fireball at the distant gnoll archers, wounding one. (and here is where my lack of sleep last night got me - I had the baddies act on Turn 1) Guardian Gnoll charged Carov, his great sword swinging high; Carov ducked under the blow, his riposte injuring the gnoll.  The remaining gnoll also attacked Carov, snarling terribly.  Carov spun to face the gnoll, his sword finding i
